When the tractor turns or traverses a ditch, the distance between the tractor PTO stub and the sprayer gearbox changes. The internal and external profiles of the PTO shaft tubing slide effortlessly within one another, expanding and compressing to absorb these distance changes without applying destructive axial loads (end-thrust) on either machine’s bearings.<\/p>\n<p>The power continues through the rear universal joint and into the implement yoke, which couples directly to the input shaft of the Rears Pul-Blast sprayer’s step-up gearbox. This gearbox then multiplies the 540 RPM input to drive the massive axial flow fan (up to 36 inches in diameter) and the high-pressure centrifugal or diaphragm pump simultaneously. Throughout this intense energy transfer, the protective slip clutch PTO shaft or shear pin PTO shaft mechanisms stand guard. Should the fan inhale a heavy branch or the pump seize, the sudden spike in torque threatens to twist the shaft or shatter the gearbox.
