This telescoping action is especially important when operating the heavy SS84-2, SS96-2, and SS108-2 units over rolling ground or when hitching on sloped surfaces. The mating profiles – typically square or star-shaped cross-sections – ensure torque is transmitted without play or rotational slippage, while the external PTO shaft guard remains in position to protect the operator at all times.<\/p>\n<p>When the auger of the Woods Snow Blower encounters a sudden blockage – an embedded rock, a frozen clump of ice, or solid debris – the drivetrain torque spikes instantly. The shear bolt, engineered with a precisely calibrated failure point, shears cleanly before the spike can travel through the agricultural PTO shaft to the gearbox or tractor PTO stub. This prevents gear tooth fractures, yoke breakage, and costly internal gearbox damage.
