It receives the single rotational input delivered by the PTO driveline shaft at 1000 RPM and distributes that power to multiple output shafts running at different speeds and torque levels. The gearbox uses a combination of bevel gears, spur gears, and sometimes worm gears to split and redirect power to the baler’s various subsystems: the pickup mechanism, auger feeders, plunger drive, and knotter assembly.
