The fertilizer distributor gearbox serves three critical functions that the PTO shaft alone cannot perform. First, it increases rotational speed from 540 RPM PTO input to approximately 1,501 RPM at the output, matching the disc speed required for effective fertilizer throw and lateral distribution. Second, it redirects the rotational axis where required by the spreader geometry, allowing vertical disc mounting on horizontally-arranged PTO input systems. Third, it multiplies torque to provide the rotational force needed to overcome the inertia of heavy spreading discs loaded with granular material, especially during startup and when material flow rates are high.<\/p>\n
