\nThe most critical component in this PTO Shaft for Alloway Shredder is the Weasler 55N overrunning device located at the implement end of the shaft assembly. Unlike a PTO shaft with slip clutch or slip clutch PTO shaft that protects against overload torque, an overrunning device is specifically engineered to prevent the implement from back-driving the tractor driveline. Alloway flail shredders carry significant rotational inertia in their rotor assemblies. When the tractor operator disengages the PTO, the rotor continues spinning for many seconds due to stored kinetic energy. Without an overrunning device, this spinning mass would force the tractor’s driveline to rotate in reverse, causing severe damage to the PTO gearbox, driveshaft U-joints, and transmission internals. The 55N overrunning clutch uses a ratchet-and-pawl or cam-and-roller mechanism that transmits torque in only one direction (tractor to implement), freewheeling in the other (implement to tractor), completely isolating the tractor from the shredder’s residual inertia.<\/p>\n
